As a teenager or young adult life is full of decisions, some have little consequences on your life, some can change your life forever and some can even cost you your life. I know that teenagers and young adults are about having fun and hanging out with their friends, boyfriends and girlfriends. We want them to be safe and understand that it only takes one time to make the mistake of having unprotected sex.I know as a teenager or young adult that you hear from parents, teachers and counselors that to be safe from STD'S is not to have sex, and they are right, abstinence is the best. Sex is all around our teenagers and young adults, cable tv, internet, music and friends. I have teens and young adults, We know how hard it is to be that age, abstinence is what we want for all teenagers and young adults, but if they are going to have sex ( not that we like it) We want them safe and use a condom. I am a parent that wants our teens and young adults to be abstinent, but if they do decide to have sex, We want them to be safe and protect themselves from STD's As a parent it is hard to accept that your teenager or young adult is having sex, you can inform them about all the reasons about being responsible. If your teen or young adult has made the choice to have sex, what is left as a parent to do but make sure that your teen and young adult understands just how important it is to have safe sex. They need to understand the consequences of not remaining Abstinent. We have spent hours talking to our teens and young adults ( We have a 15,17,24, and 25 year olds.) We can only hope they will not have sex until marriage. Yes a parent can know where there teen or young adult is and who they are with almost all the time, but it is impossible to know what they are doing with this free time. Talking to our teens and young adults is important and every parent should take the time to educate our teens and young adults to remain Abstinent. One thing for sure is a parent needs to keep the lines of communication open, above all you want your teens and young adults to talk to you. We are parents and the point of this website is that if a teen or young adult is going to have sex regardless of what their parents are asking of them, We want them to be knowledgeable of what happens when they have unprotected sex. There are 333 million STD cases worldwide 50% of all new AIDS/HIV infections are teenagers. 34 million people living with AIDS/HIV worldwide. 2 million will die this year.
